Full Completion of Ultra low Emission Retrofits
A total investment of RMB 15 billion supports more than 100 retrofit projects. All steel production bases of Hunan Steel have completed full process ultra low emission upgrading, with acceptance results publicly disclosed.
Notable Pollutant Reduction Outcomes
Compared with conditions before retrofits, estimated annual emissions from three core steel subsidiaries decrease by approximately 16 000 tons for particulate matter, 6 900 tons for sulfur dioxide and 7 500 tons for nitrogen oxides. These represent emission cuts of 60%, 63% and 42% respectively.
Vigorous Promotion of Ultra‑high Energy Efficiency Projects
Hunan Steel makes comprehensive use of waste heat, waste pressure and residual energy within plant sites. It has put into operation coal gas generating units with the world’s largest installed capacity, highest operating efficiency and lowest pollution level. Annual on site power generation capacity reaches nearly 10 billion kilowatt hours. This saves roughly 1.14 million tons of standard coal and cuts carbon emissions by nearly 2.9 million tons.
Comprehensive Upgrade of Environmental Performance
Xiangtan Steel, Lianyuan Steel and VAMA have obtained top tier Grade A environmental performance rating. Hengyang Steel aims to achieve Grade A accreditation within 2026.
